The new ITA Data Center provides better conditions for public and private institutions in Angola to carry out their activities, as well as ensuring data sovereignty through storage in physical and cloud infrastructures hosted within the country.
ITA inaugurates Angola's largest and most reliable Data Center
ITA – Internet Technologies Angola inaugurated its new Data Center in October 2019 at the ITA Campus in Patriota. This milestone in the history of telecommunications in Angola was marked by two major events.
The inaugural ceremony, held on October 16, was attended by the Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology, José Carvalho da Rocha, customers, ITA partners, and industry professionals, who witnessed this important milestone in the history of telecommunications in Angola.
On October 24, ITA celebrated the launch of Angola's largest and most modern Data Center with over 200 customers and partners.
With an estimated cost of around 3.1 billion kwanzas (approximately USD 10 million), the new infrastructure, built in a two-story building with capacity for more than 7,000 servers, equipped with the most modern security and storage capabilities, connected to all telecommunications service operators, features that make it one of the most reliable and robust in Angola.
Considering the pace of growth of the digital market in Angola, ITA believes that these expanded services will enable companies, mainly in the banking and insurance sectors, to use high-level services and, above all, to keep their critical data within the country, with multiple advantages, namely colocation, hosting, and cloud services solutions.
The expansion of the data center market is seen as the main driver of digital transformation in African economies, as it stimulates cloud computing services that enable the development of payment systems for the retail market, financial inclusion, sustainable business models, and revenue management.
According to ITA CEO Rolf Mendelsohn, this structure will increase the capacity of data center services fourfold, benefiting small and medium-sized businesses that will be able to access secure and highly reliable services locally.
He added that, in addition to being a particularly significant milestone in the development of ITA and Angola's ICT sector, the Data Center will provide better conditions for public and private institutions in Angola to carry out their activities, acting as an accelerator for the development of our country's economy, as well as a guarantee of the sovereignty of data stored in physical and cloud infrastructures hosted in the national territory.
