ITA Participates in an Event on Security and the Benefits of Using the Angolan Cloud

The Cloud has revolutionized the way files are stored, and one of its greatest benefits is cost reduction. The 100% Angolan Cloud guarantees the same security, reliability, and prices as those in other countries and allows critical data to remain sovereign within Angolan territory. These are more than enough reasons for national companies to start trusting and contracting this service from Angolan providers.

In this context, Penttinali, a company specializing in Cyber Risk Investigation and Mitigation, held a workshop on January 19, 2021, in Luanda, on "Security and advantages of using the Angolan Cloud." At this forum, in which the consultant advised public and private institutions to use the Angolan Cloud, ITA played a prominent role as the only 100% cloud service provider.

The session was led by cybercrime expert Hélio Pereira and attended by Angola's Data Protection Agency, media outlets, and IT specialists, who learned more about cloud computing in Angola and the factors that will drive the migration from foreign to domestic clouds.

Several studies indicate that, in Angola, public and private institutions prefer to use foreign cloud services due to key factors such as security, reliability, and pricing. However, Hélio Pereira argues that the Angolan cloud offers the same features and the same level of quality, in addition to allowing for the sovereignty of critical data within Angolan territory.

For this reason, the expert advised public and private institutions to trust the Cloud made in Angola, as it guarantees security and reliability.

Currently, the country already has companies that provide these services. A concrete example of a secure and reliable national cloud is ITA – Internet Technologies Angola, S.A. The expert pointed out that this multinational company has the largest and most reliable data center in Angola, with cloud services that guarantee a 100% Angolan service, with guaranteed security and technical assistance.

Ricardo Santa Ana, Cloud Manager at ITA, also argued that large Angolan companies should give opportunities to local providers of this service, in order to prove their reliability over time. Using Angolan cloud services allows national companies to make payments in local currency, increasing their ability to channel resources into new investments and operational expenses directly linked to their core business, explained the manager.

Although cloud services do not represent a significant proportion of Angolan companies' total foreign currency expenditure, any savings are important, Ricardo Santa Ana emphasized. Ultimately, they help ensure that as many resources as possible can be allocated to the purchase of new equipment.

Finally, the Angolan Data Protection Agency praised the project's initiative and stressed that "it is necessary to regulate, legislate, and register companies so that data processing and protection of local content can become a reality in Angola. "Our goal is for all companies that process data to be registered and for the security of that data in data centers and the cloud to guarantee the sovereignty of keeping critical data within the national territory."
