ITA supports education through computer science education and digital inclusion
Luanda, April 9, 2019: Angola’s Ministry of Education and ITA – Internet Technologies Angola, S.A., one of the country’s largest technology companies, have joined forces in an initiative that is resulting in the equipping of two computer labs in schools—one in Luanda and one in Benguela—a project that is benefiting more than a thousand high school students.
The first school to benefit from the project, which is part of ITA’s corporate social responsibility program, is the Viana Polytechnic High School. More than 30 professionals from various fields were involved in this initiative, working for over two months to facilitate the purchase and installation of 19 complete computer stations—monitor, CPU, and mouse—with 18 for students and one higher-performance computer, serving as a server, to be used by the teacher. In addition, according to Francisco Pinto Leite, Director-General of ITA, a dedicated internet connection was installed.
“Technology expands access to information, brings students closer to the world’s best knowledge and tools, contributes to the training of qualified professionals, and, consequently, promotes the country’s socioeconomic development,” said Francisco Pinto Leite.
Francisco Pinto Leite concluded by saying that “it is equally important to emphasize that this initiative was made possible thanks to the support of the more than 200 participants and partners of ITA, who, at the 7th edition of the Charity Golf Tournament held in 2018, helped make it possible for us to offer these opportunities to students today.”
In addition to this school in Luanda, it should be noted that ITA will be equipping a computer lab at the Benguela Industrial Secondary School, a project set to take place in the coming weeks.
This project, which reflects ITA’s commitment to education through computer science as a key driver of social development, takes on even greater significance because it is also aligned with the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology’s digital inclusion strategy.
