Fiber Implementation and Support Engineer

Paratus Telecommunications currently has a vacancy for a Fiber Implementation and Support Engineer based in Windhoek.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Implement, commission and maintain active fibre network infrastructure, including GPON, Carrier Ethernet and DWDM platforms, together with their associated Network Management Systems (NMS).
  • Perform advanced fault diagnosis and troubleshooting of active fibre network infrastructure and associated management systems to ensure rapid restoration of services.
  • Maintain accurate network installation records, asset information and network topology documentation.
  • Monitor the performance and capacity of active fibre network infrastructure, identifying trends and recommending improvements to ensure network reliability and scalability.
  • Participate in planned maintenance activities, network upgrades and implementation projects.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company standards, operational procedures and health and safety requirements.

The minimum requirements for the position are as follows:

  • Diploma or Degree in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the ICT or telecommunications industry.
  • Good working knowledge of GPON/FTTx technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of DWDM and Carrier Ethernet networking.
  • Basic knowledge of IP and Ethernet networking.
  • Vendor certifications or training in IP, Optical Networking, GPON or DWDM technologies will be advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s licence
