Paratus Telecommunications currently has a vacancy for a Fiber Maintenance Assistant in Windhoek.
Roles and responsibilities:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Maintenance Assistant with experience in both fiber optic installation and civil engineering-related tasks. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks, while also overseeing civil works such as trenching, ducting, and site preparation to support fiber infrastructure.
The minimum requirements for the position are as follows:
- Assist with the installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic networks and equipment.
- Perform fiber testing and fault identification using OTDR, power meters, and related tools.
- Support troubleshooting and repair of underground and aerial fiber infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate records of fiber routes, network layouts, and test results.
- Conduct site surveys and assist with planning for fiber network deployments.
- Supervise and/or perform civil works, including trenching, duct installation, and backfilling.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and project specifications.
- Coordinate with contractors, local authorities, and project stakeholders as required.
- Interpret technical drawings and monitor the quality and progress of civil works.
- Assist with routine inspections and maintenance of network infrastructure.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various sites.
- Police clearance.
