This month, a father and daughter team sets off from Maputo in Mozambique on the second leg of an epic 33,500 km journey through Africa and the Iberian Peninsula to Lisbon, Portugal. This feat of endurance is being undertaken by Ana and Carlos Oliveira who both share a passion for Portuguese history, for Africa and for adventure. Their aim is to retrace the routes of some of the great Portuguese explorers. As they undertake this arduous journey, which will see them traversing some of the roughest and most deserted territories in Africa, Paratus Mozambique is providing their Starlink kit and service which will ensure their connectivity, their safety and that their travails and travels are shared with the world.
The first part of their journey, which covers a total of 27 countries, is the Explorers route and began in Angola, passing through Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, South Africa and Mozambique. This leg of the expedition โ the Discoverers Route – starts in Maputo and takes this fearless father-daughter duo through South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, Angola, The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Congo Brazzaville, Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Cote DโIvoire, Liberia, Guinea Conakry, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Mauritania, Western Sahara, Morocco, Spain and Portugal with the culmination of this epic test of strength and endurance ending in November 2025 in Lisbon โฆ from where all the Portuguese seafarers and explorers first began their discovery of the world.
Paratus Mozambique, in supporting this journey with internet connectivity via Starlink, shares its excitement for the expedition with Ana and Carlos Oliveira. As MD of Paratus Mozambique, Rui Costa says: โWe believe that this epic journey represents our values of spirit and adventure, and we are proud to be providing essential connectivity to these two brave pioneers. This sponsorship also reflects our commitment to providing connectivity anywhere on the African continent โ across borders and in the most rural areas, in largely unchartered territories and along all the dusty gravel roads where Ana and Carlos will be travelling. We wish them great success in their massive endeavour.โ
