Overview

At Sifundzani High School, access to reliable internet connectivity was once a significant barrier to effective teaching and learning. Located in Mbabane, the school serves 411 students supported by 57 teachers and staff.

Through Paratus Essential Access, powered by Starlink, the school has transformed its digital capabilities – unlocking new opportunities for both educators and learners.

The challenge

Prior to installation, the school relied on a 20 Mbps fiber-over-wireless connection, which proved inconsistent and restrictive.

The solution

Following a recommendation from a peer institution, Sifundzani High School implemented Paratus Essential Access, a solution designed to provide reliable, high-speed satellite connectivity to underserved and remote locations.

The installation process was:

The impact

Reliable connectivity delivered immediate improvements across the school.
1
Enhanced Connectivity
  • Zero reported outages
  • Reliable high-speed internet
  • Consistent performance
2
Improved Teaching and Learning
  • Access to digital learning
  • Real-time collaboration
  • Video-based lessons
3
Operational Eciency
  • Better administration
  • Improved communication
  • Increased productivity

Performance & reliability

Murang'a County reports:

  • Unmatched speed and performance
  • No downtime experienced
  • Consistent, reliable connectivity regardless of demand

Reliable connectivity has removed previous limitations and improved day-to-day operations.

Cost & operational efficiency

The solution reduced internet costs while delivering significantly better performance.

Looking ahead

With reliable connectivity in place, the school is expanding its digital capabilities through:

  • Introduction of interactive smart boards
  • Further integration of digital learning tools
  • Continued enhancement of administrative system

Our internet costs have dropped dramatically, while speed and reliability have transformed teaching and administration.

Overview

Mphande Hills Primary School in the Chipapa community serves
close to 500 learners. Despite receiving 25 new computers as
part of a broader infrastructure project led by CFAO Mobility and
World Vision Zambia, the school had no means of connecting
them, sitting well beyond the reach of fiber and mobile network
infrastructure.

Through Paratus Essential Access, powered by Starlink, the
school now has reliable, high-speed internet connectivity,
unlocking the full potential of its new computer lab for both
learners and teachers.

The challenge

Prior to installation, the school had 25 computers with no viable internet connection, rendering them limited in their educational value.
These constraints directly impacted teaching quality, limiting access to online learning tools and reducing overall productivity.

The solution

As part of its corporate social investment commitment, Paratus Zambia donated a Starlink satellite internet kit to Mphande Primary School, providing reliable, high-speed connectivity to a location where conventional infrastructure does not reach.

The installation process was:

The impact

Reliable connectivity delivered immediate improvements across the school.
1
Enhanced Connectivity
  • Reliable high-speed internet where
    no connection previously existed
  • Consistent performance
    regardless of demand
  • Elimination of bandwidth
    and access constraints
2
Improved Teaching and Learning
  • Access to online learning platforms
    and digital resources
  • Real-time sharing of notes and
    classwork
  • Increased ability to conduct digital
    and video-based lessons
3
Operational Eciency
  • Computers now functioning at full
    capacity
  • Streamlined access to educational
    tools and administration systems
  • Increased overall productivity
    across the school

Performance & reliability

Murang'a County reports:

  • Unmatched speed and performance for a first-time connection
  • Reliable connectivity regardless of demand
  • No downtime experienced since deployment

Cost & operational efficiency

The Starlink solution was donated at a value of K22,000, removing what would have been a significant financial barrier for a school of this size and location. The contribution ensures the school can focus its own resources on learning rather than infrastructure costs.

Looking ahead

With connectivity no longer a constraint, Mphande Primary School is now positioned to expand its digital capabilities, including:

  • Further integration of digital learning tools across subjects
  • Introduction of online assessments and examination preparation resources
  • Continued enhancement of teacher and administrative systems

Conclusion

Through Paratus Essential Access, Mphande Primary School has moved from a fully equipped but oine computer lab to a connected digital learning environment.

Connectivity is no longer a convenience in education, it is a basic requirement. This Starlink donation gives the school the connectivity it needs to actually function, access to digital learning content, broadcast lessons and examination resources that were previously out of reach simply because of geography.
