For Participation In The 2024 Cycle Classic Category: Cycling

  1. THE RULES A copy of the rules and the regulations and other terms governing your entry and participation in the Cycle Classic is available on request from the organisers at the registration venue. You will be bound by the rules, regulations, and other terms even if you have not read them.

  2. NO HELMET, NO RIDE! You must wear an approved cycling helmet complying with ANSIZ90/4 or SNELL standards. Cycling shoes, shorts, gloves, sunglasses, and jerseys are also recommended for your safety and convenience.

  3. WHAT KIND OF A BIKE MAY I RIDE:  Riders may ride any type of bike. E-bikes and hand cycles will also be allowed. No aero bars will be allowed.

    Races are on open roads and all road rules apply – no crossing the center line.

    Obey all the road rules – especially KEEP LEFT. There are no special privileges for cycle races.

    Where required, marshals will stop cyclists not traffic.

    Hold your lines – do not overlap wheels.

    Riders are to warn the bunch of oncoming or following vehicles and other traffic hazards.

    Slow down after the finish line – all riders must report to finish line, even if recording as DNF (did not finish).

    No abuse of race officials, volunteers or fellow riders will be tolerated.

    Failure to follow rules may lead to disciplinary action including refusal of a start/deduction of race points/banning from races or the club.

  4. SERVICE VEHICLES Seconding in the form of following vehicles or motor bikes is strictly forbidden and leads to disqualification.

  5. WHAT ABOUT FOOD AND DRINK? There will be water points along the route. No participant may take food or drink from anyone other than another participant whilst on the move. At water points please take care and look around before suddenly stopping.

  6. HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO FINISH? You will not be awarded a finishing medal for the Cycle Classic unless you finish before the cut off time at 12:00 for the road bike race and 11:00 for the mountain bike race. Officials, marshals, sweep vehicles and water points will withdraw at 12:00 for both races.

  7. WHO CAN ENTER? Anyone 8 years and older, but children under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by an adult participant who must be directly responsible for the child throughout the whole event. Mountain Bike Race 50km Mountain Bike race – 17 yrs + older, 30km Mountain bike race – 12 yrs + older 13km Mountain bike race – Open entries.

    2 Road race: 100km 16 yrs + older, 60km 12 yrs + older, 30km Open entries. 30km Open entries.

  8. ENTRIES: Entries close on 3 October 2023. Entries can be done online at www.webticket.com.na and any Pick n Pay outlet countrywide. Late entries on the day at N$350 per entry

  9. REGISTRATION: Registration for the mountain bike and road race will take place Friday 6 October 2023, 16H00 at the Hage Geingob Stadium. Registration and number collection for the road bike races will continue Saturday 7 October 2023 from 12:00 to 14:00. Your race number and your timing chip must be collected during these times.

  10. START/FINISH VENUE The start and finish line will be at the Hage Geingob Stadium. Starting time is from 07:00 for the mountain bike and 07:00 for the road race events.

  12. PRIZES AND PRIZE GIVING Prize giving will take place immediately after the event

  13. RESULTS Results will be placed on the Internet. www.raceday.events/namibian-events/. Names of successful participants will be published in The Namibian newspaper.

  14. In consideration of the acceptance of my entry, I, my executors, heirs, administrators do hereby release and discharge the organisers, any and all sponsors, any and all volunteer groups, all medical personnel, any and all local authorities from all claims for injuries, damage, or property loss I may suffer caused by the negligence of any of them and arising out of my participation in this event, including pre- and post-race activities. I am physically fit and sufficiently trained to participate in this event and assume all risks for this participation. I accept all rules, conditions and regulations of the Namibian Cycling Federation and will comply by them. Also, I grant permission to the organisers to use my name, photography, videotapes or broadcasts of this event free of charge. Children under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by an adult. I have read and understand the rules, guidelines and information and agree to abide by them. All the rules of the Namibia Cycling Federation and the UCI will be adhered to.
