Paratus Zambia Marks 15 Years of Connecting the Nation

Paratus Zambia is celebrating fifteen years of connecting people and powering progress, during which time the company has grown from a bold startup into one of the country’s most established and trusted digital services providers.  Launched in 2010 with a vision to provide fast, reliable enterprise internet, Paratus has evolved into a key player in Zambia’s digital ecosystem. Today it delivers enterprise-grade connectivity, cloud, data center and satellite services nationwide, underpinned by sustained infrastructure investment, on-the-ground expert technical support and a strong commitment to quality and reliability.

Part of the Paratus Group, a leading pan-African network services provider, Paratus Zambia combines global expertise with strong local investment. Country Manager of Paratus Zambia, Marius van Vuuren says: “Fifteen years ago, we set out with one clear mission: to give Zambians access to fast, reliable, quality internet. Today, we are proud to play a central role in the country’s digital transformation.  Our evolution from a focused ISP to a full-scale digital services provider reflects the trust our customers have placed in us and the work our team has done to earn it.”

Over the past decade and a half, Paratus Zambia has invested heavily in infrastructure and delivered innovations that drive digital transformation. These include the launch of a state-of-the-art, ISO-certified Tier 3 designed Data Center in Lusaka, purpose-built for providing world class co-location services, enabling businesses to host their critical IT infrastructure, risk free and off-site. From this facility, Paratus also provides a growing suite of locally hosted cloud services. This investment, alongside the continued expansion of its nationwide and cross-border fiber and microwave networks, enables businesses to operate more efficiently and ensures reliable connectivity for individuals across the country.

Today, Paratus Zambia serves a growing customer base of large enterprises, SMEs and residential users, all supported by its dedicated technical support team available 24/7. Paratus also delivers reliable satellite connectivity through partnerships with global LEO (low earth orbit) satellite providers, ensuring access even in the most remote parts of the country.

Zambia’s location in Southern Africa makes it a critical and strategically placed transit hub for the Paratus Group’s African network. National coverage has also been extended through pioneering projects such as the installation of 700 km of open-access metro fiber in partnership with Meta, bridging connectivity gaps in underserved towns. This infrastructure not only enabled essential communication for mining operations but also extended coverage into the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Looking ahead, Paratus Zambia is focused not just on growing its network but on growing its impact. As van Vuuren explains: “The next chapter for us is all about reaching more people all over Zambia, by driving customer value and transforming the digital landscape in Zambia. After 15 years, this isn’t just a celebration of how far we’ve come. It’s a renewed promise to the people of Zambia on our motto “Always Prepared” and delivering quality solutions, service and support to all our customers equally.”
